Affiliate Program Terms

The Program is open to content creators, publishers, educators, and businesses with an audience in Canada or the United States. Applications are reviewed individually and we may approve or decline any application at our discretion. You must be at least the age of majority where you live, and you must not be a current Waypoint Budget employee or contractor.

We run the Program through PromoteKit, a third-party affiliate platform. Your affiliate account, dashboard, and payout details live there, and their terms and privacy policy apply to your use of that platform.

You receive a unique tracking link. When someone clicks it, an attribution cookie is stored in their browser for 60 days. If they subscribe to a paid Waypoint Budget plan within that window, the subscription is credited to you.

A commission is earned when the referred customer's first payment clears. It is $20 CAD when that first payment is for an annual plan, and $8 CAD when it is for a monthly plan. Commission is paid once per referred customer, not on renewals. Free plans, free trials that never convert, and add-on purchases do not earn a commission.

Attribution runs through Stripe, which covers both the website and the Android app. Subscriptions purchased inside the iPhone app are processed by Apple, never reach Stripe, and cannot earn a commission. Where more than one affiliate could be credited for the same customer, the credit follows the attribution recorded by our affiliate platform.

Payouts are generated monthly, 30 days after the end of the month in which a commission was earned, provided your balance is at least $25 CAD. Balances below that carry forward. We pay by PayPal or Wise using the details you provide, and you are responsible for keeping them accurate. Fees charged by your payment provider are yours.

Commissions are reversed if the underlying payment is refunded, disputed, charged back, or reversed for fraud. If a reversal happens after payout, we may deduct the amount from future commissions.

We may withhold or cancel a commission we reasonably believe resulted from a breach of these terms, fraudulent activity, or a transaction that was not a genuine arm's length sale.

You must clearly and conspicuously disclose that you earn a commission, on every post, video, email, or page that carries your link. A short, plain statement such as “I earn a commission if you subscribe through my link” is enough.

The disclosure must be easy to notice without clicking anything, close to the recommendation itself, and in the same medium as the content. Video needs the disclosure both on screen and spoken. A disclosure only in a profile bio, only behind a “more” link, or only as an ambiguous tag such as #partner or #collab is not enough. Content in French needs a French disclosure.

This reflects the United States Federal Trade Commission Endorsement Guides, the Canadian Competition Act, and the Ad Standards influencer disclosure guidelines. We may review your content for compliance and may pause or end your participation if you do not disclose.

You may not:

• Refer yourself, or use your link for your own subscription or the subscription of anyone in your household.
• Bid on Waypoint Budget brand terms, misspellings, or brand terms combined with words such as “review”, “coupon”, or “promo code” in paid search, or use our name in a display URL.
• Post to coupon, deal, or cashback sites, or advertise discounts, trials, or rebates we have not authorized.
• Pay or otherwise incentivize people to sign up, use bulk unsolicited email, or use automated traffic.
• Make claims about financial results we have not published, such as a specific amount a person will save or a timeline for becoming debt free.
• Represent yourself as Waypoint Budget, register domains or social accounts containing our name, or modify our logo and brand assets.
• Promote Waypoint Budget alongside content that is unlawful, deceptive, hateful, or sexually explicit, or target the promotion at children.

You are an independent contractor, not an employee, partner, or agent of Waypoint Budget Inc. You are responsible for your own income taxes and for any sales tax that applies to your commissions.

Before your first payout we may ask for tax information, including a Canadian Social Insurance Number or business number, a United States Form W-9, or a Form W-8BEN, along with your country of residence and your GST/HST registration status. We may withhold payment until you provide it, and we may report amounts paid to you to the relevant tax authority where the law requires it.

If you are in the United States, you confirm that your promotion consists of publishing content and links, and that you do not solicit customers on our behalf in person within your state.

Participation is non-exclusive and there is no minimum volume. Either of us may end your participation at any time, for any reason, with notice. If we end your participation and you have not breached these terms, commissions already approved are still paid.

We may change commission rates, the attribution window, or these terms at any time. Rate changes apply to referrals tracked after the change, never retroactively. If your account records no referred sale for twelve consecutive months, we may close it and forfeit a balance below the minimum payout.

The Program is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, Waypoint Budget Inc. is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to the commissions payable to you in the twelve months before the claim.

These terms are governed by the same laws and jurisdiction as our Terms of Service.
