Delete Your Account

This page explains how to delete your Waypoint Budget account, what data is removed, and how long it takes. Waypoint Budget is operated by Waypoint Budget Inc., a Canadian corporation registered in Alberta, Canada.

How to delete your account

  1. Sign in at waypointbudget.com/sign-in or open the Waypoint Budget app.
  2. Click your profile avatar and select Profile Settings.
  3. On the Privacy & Security card, click Manage, then open the Security tab.
  4. Click Delete account and confirm. Your account and personal data are deleted immediately.

Deletion is permanent — there is no waiting period or recovery window.

Can't sign in?

If you no longer have access to your account, email support@waypointbudget.com from the address associated with your account, using the subject line "Account Deletion Request." We verify ownership and process requests within 5 business days.

What data is deleted

When you delete your account, we immediately remove the following from our active systems:

  • Profile information (name, email, preferences, region settings)
  • All budgets, transactions, and financial data you created
  • Connected bank account information, access tokens, and sync settings (Plaid and Flinks)
  • Savings goals, financial goals, and custom budget categories
  • Household membership and any households you own
  • Net worth entries and registered account tracking data
  • Chat history with AI features (stored locally on your device — cleared by clearing browser data)

Data retention and timelines

Active systems: Personal data is purged immediately when you confirm deletion.

Encrypted backups: Our database provider (Supabase, Pro plan) keeps encrypted backups on a 7-day rolling window for disaster recovery. Your data is fully purged from those rolling backups within approximately 7 days as part of the normal rotation.

Payments and subscriptions: Active subscriptions are canceled immediately, and your payment methods are removed from Stripe. Anonymized financial records may be retained by Stripe for up to 7 years for legal compliance (tax reporting, audits), as required by Canadian and U.S. tax authorities.
