Goodbudget Syncs US Banks Only.
Waypoint Budget Syncs Canadian Ones.

Goodbudget's own pricing page says Premium's automatic bank sync is for US banks only, so from Canada every transaction is typed in or uploaded by hand. Waypoint Budget syncs Canadian banks through Plaid and Flinks on Plus and Pro, bills in Canadian dollars, and keeps the habit that makes the envelope method work: money you do not spend carries forward.

Built in Canada, For Canadian Money

Two bank networks, your currency, your accounts

Two Bank Networks

Waypoint Budget reaches Canadian banks through two networks, Plaid and Flinks, so institutions one misses are covered by the other. Flinks is a Montreal company built for Canadian banks specifically, which is how credit unions like Vancity, Meridian and Servus connect. Bank sync is on Plus and Pro.

TFSA, RRSP, FHSA, RESP

Registered accounts get dedicated account types on Pro, not a generic balance in a list. Most US-first budgeting apps have no concept of them.

Priced in CAD

Waypoint Budget charges Canadians in Canadian dollars, so there is no conversion and no foreign transaction fee from your card. Free tier forever, Plus at CA$7.99/month, Pro at CA$12.99/month.

To Be Fair to Goodbudget

We believe in honest comparisons

The envelope method: Goodbudget is the envelope method done faithfully: you fill envelopes at the start of the month and spend from them. It is a good discipline, and the carry-forward habit transfers straight into Waypoint Budget's rollover categories.

Debt tracking on the free plan: Goodbudget includes debt tracking free. Waypoint Budget's free plan includes debt goals with payoff projections.

Manual entry, done well: Goodbudget syncs manual entries across devices quickly, and entering a purchase is fast. If you prefer typing every transaction on purpose, it is built for that.

If you bank in Canada, Goodbudget's bank sync is not available to you, whichever plan you buy. Waypoint Budget gives you the parts that matter here: Canadian bank sync on Plus and Pro, Canadian pricing, and categories that carry forward.
